Support In September

On September 21, specialized nurses in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence hosted the Atlantic Ostomy Outreach Day at The Moncton Hospital, bringing together over 50 participants to discuss resources and support for Atlantic Canadians living with an ostomy. The event featured informative speakers and personal stories, highlighting that having an ostomy can enhance, rather than hinder, one’s quality of life. The Ostomy Sudbury & District’s Northern Wellness Symposium event on September 27 was a great success. Janet Paquet, Vice-Chair of the Board, delivered an inspiring half-hour presentation about her journey, emphasizing how Ostomy Canada has supported her and positively impacted the ostomy community. Many attendees stopped by her table, where she distributed the Hamilton Ostomy Handbook for new ostomates. The handbook was extremely well-received, and Janet quickly ran out of copies.

The recaps of these two events will be featured in the winter edition of Ostomy Canada Magazine. If you’re not currently receiving the magazine, you can become an Ostomy Supporter by donating $25 or more.
