Welcome to the March Edition of Ostomy Canada Society’s E-Connects! For most of us across the country who recently “sprung” forward with the time change, this also signals the beginning of the Spring season – a time to enjoy the wonderous rebirth of nature knocking on our doorstep, to remind ourselves to be grateful for every moment experienced, and to honour our commitment of Living Life to the Fullest while we have such a magnificent opportunity!
Our March Edition of Ostomy Canada Society’s Connects E-News is filled with news, stories, event listings and care tips that I hope you will find both educational and valuable. Some highlights include:
- Ostomy Canada’s next webinar Stop The Leak, sponsored by Coloplast, will take place on Wednesday, March 19. It will feature information and tips on Ostomy Leakage Prevention and finding Your Fit.
- Our Upcoming Events Calendar highlights all the Chapter and Peer Support Group activities from now until the end of the month.
- Ostomy Canada’s Awards and Nominations are now open with upcoming deadlines of March 31 & June 1.
A Look At Our Strategic Plan
If you had the opportunity to enjoy the latest edition of Ostomy Canada’s Winter Magazine, I had mentioned that our new strategic plan was recently completed, which will guide the organization over the next several years. This included a refreshed vision, mission, and identification of key strategic priorities:

Every person living with an ostomy lives life to their fullest.
Our Mission
Helping communities to ensure that people living with ostomies and their circles of support can build meaningful connections and access the support they need, in an inclusive and understanding society.
Our Strategic Priorities
- Become a recognized, credible and trusted voice;
- Reimagine our relationship with community-based peer support;
- Develop powerful partnerships to influence community and policy change.
World Ostomy Day – Oct 4
Our next edition of Connects E-News will be in mid-April. In it, we will share exciting details about this year’s Step Up For Ostomy event. Our planning committee has been hard at work and is eager to share more information with you.
