Question:

I may be eligible for a colostomy reversal. I have had my colostomy since April 2021, and before making a decision, I would like to speak with others who have undergone a reversal. How can I connect with people who have experienced this?

Answer:

To connect with others who have undergone a colostomy reversal, visit the Support tab on the Ostomy Canada website. There, you can explore the Visiting Support Program or reach out to the lead of a local ostomy chapter. They may be able to connect you with someone who has been in a similar situation.

A colostomy reversal is generally less invasive and painful than the initial ostomy surgery, with a faster recovery time. However, as with any procedure, there can be potential complications. Speaking with others who have gone through the process can provide valuable insights into what to expect.
