Join us for the screening of “Stuck,” an inspiring short film about living with an ostomy, at the Dances With Films Festival in NYC on December 7. Celebrate resilience and raise awareness within the ostomy community!
We’re thrilled to share some incredible news about Stuck, a short film that holds immense personal and community significance. This project, graciously supported by the Ostomy Canada Society, explores the real-world experiences of living with an ostomy through the eyes of a musician. More than just a film, Stuck is a heartfelt narrative that raises awareness, breaks stigmas, and celebrates resilience within the ostomy community.
Now, we’re taking our story to the Big Apple! Stuck will be screening at Regal Union Square in Manhattan on Saturday, December 7, at 4:15 PM, as part of the prestigious Dances With Films Festival. For my fellow ostomates and film enthusiasts alike, this is an incredible opportunity to unite, share stories, and amplify awareness around life with an ostomy.
About Stuck, the Short Film
For those who may not know, I have the honour of serving as an executive producer on Stuck. The film is inspired by my personal experiences as a musician navigating life after ostomy surgery, shedding light on the challenges and triumphs that come with this major life adjustment. Our goal with Stuck has always been to foster understanding, provide support for those who may be struggling, and showcase the vibrancy of life that continues beyond surgery.
The film premiered in Hollywood, and after receiving wonderful responses, it’s humbling to share it with a broader audience in New York City. With the incredible collaboration of organizations like the Ostomy Canada Society, Coloplast Canada, and the United Ostomy Associations of America, Stuck has already begun to make an impact, spreading awareness across national platforms and resonating with individuals worldwide.
Empowering Visibility for the Ostomy Community
This screening is more than just an event; it’s a moment of representation for the ostomy community. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our collective strength and create greater visibility for our realities and achievements. By attending or simply spreading the word, you’re helping to shift the narrative surrounding ostomies from one of stigma to one of courage and empowerment.
